‘The Reef Beneath Our Feet’.

£275

ORIGINAL PAINTING ON RESTORED WOODEN PANEL. READY TO HANG

52cm x 63m framed

This painting captures the rugged beauty of the Peak District hills, with hints of fossils lying within the limestone beneath our feet, and abandoned quarried millstones, that remain strewn across the countryside.

Fresh colours reflect the area’s natural  resources while the knots and grain of the reclaimed wooden surface add both energy and texture to the piece whilst also calling to ancient fossil forms and groove patterns on the millstones.

Framed and ready to hang, this piece invites the ancient geology of the Peak District into your space, blending raw beauty with a touch of wild elegance.

Description

The Peak District’s limestone is rich in fossils because it was deposited during the Lower Carboniferous period, when the area was a shallow, warm sea. The limestone is predominantly white or grey, which is why the area is sometimes called the “White Peak”.
